On 22 June 2022, the Victorian regulator for lawyers announced that Grubisa “no longer holds a practising certificate in Victoria” and is “not entitled to engage in legal practice anywhere in Australia”.
“Ms Grubisa is also prohibited from advertising, representing or implying that she is entitled to engage in legal practice.”
The Legal Services Board stated they “are aware of the recent ASIC decision and recent media interest relating to Ms Grubisa and her various business entities, and we are currently considering what other regulatory action is necessary.”
The Board’s announcement is here.
Update: While Grubisa has (correctly) claimed that it was her decision to withdraw her application for a legal practising certificate, it was disclosed in an AAT decision in October 2023 that a letter from the VLSB said the VLSB had a number of concerns about Ms Grubisa’s conduct and was considering whether to refuse her application for renewal of her practising certificate on the basis she was not a fit and proper person. The letter also foreshadowed further investigatory action. Ms Grubisa’s solicitor wrote to the VLSB and formally withdrew her application for renewal of the practising certificate. That withdrawal forestalled further regulatory action.” (see para 114)
